Film of the month- Rome

Waiting for the 7th season of Game of Thrones is not easy for anyone, so today I’m going to tell you about the other HBO production that is worth watching. You can treat Rome as a compensation for months of being patient:) Little SPOILERS in that post:)

This is a story of two  Roman soldiers, involved in historical events and great political changes.
They stay together for better and for worse, against all dramatic situations- even though, they don’t always agree with each other.

We observe the transformation of Roman Republic into the Roman Empire. But in Rome great history is just a background for personal problems,  betrayals, intrigues, and murders. Don’t worry there is also a lot of bitter humour, great costumes and the culture of ancient Rome.

the best moments of the whole show are for me:
  •  Cleopatra’s negotiations with Octavian and what happens after,
  • Pullo’s fight on the arena and Vorenus’s decision,
  • “Punishing” slave – girl Gaia by Pullo and all the consequences.

O.K. -that last scene was one of the hottest I’ve ever seen.  Made me very emotional and angry, but let’s be honest: it was just perfect 😛 Despite the fact that I lost all my respect and big sympathy to Pullo. Just indifference left… and the broken heart.

There are so many fantastic characters such as Lucius Vorenus, Marc Anthony, Titus Pullo (badass), Ceaser and… “even you Brutus”.

But my absolutely favourite character is Cleopatra. She’s both: girlish and feminine and also crazy and sensible at the same time. Queen of the Nile, lover and mother.  Maybe not a classical beauty but a real woman. And she’s a perfect example to prove that you don’t need to have long hair to be gorgeous 🙂 She is sensual, charming and sexy and her feminity is just undoubted.
To be honest, the other female characters in the series were quite disappointing.

There are 2 seasons of Rome only (2nd is much more interesting and dynamic in my opinion) and it’s a shame that HBO didn’t decide to continue.

I can really recommend that great historical series full of ancient history, intrigues, real friendship, sex and blood. I hope my short review encouraged you to watch it.
Have a great day:)

I had to scroll back up twice because one of the pics (punishing girl) looked like Le-lo (or w/e) from Fifth Element but… not thinking it is. I’m gonna have to search the cast. Does look awesome though! Thanks for sharing.

Name of the actress is Zuleikha Robinson. But the character she plays is… controversial . I don’t think you’re gonna like her:D

I’ve seen this, and thought it was excellent! I know it’s not a historical series but I’m working my way through House of Cards at the moment and it’s fantastic!

This looks super intense and full of drama. I haven’t looked at too much tv for adults since we have so many littles around the house. It’s Disney Jr most of the time and then there’s HGTV.

UGH waiting for Season 7 of Game of Thrones is IMPOSSIBLE! I’m trying so hard to avoid spoilers. This is the second enthusiastic recommendation for Rome that I’ve come across recently, so I’ll have to give it a try!
